• Incredibly smooth record update flows from either query results or spreadsheets

A few standout features I haven’t seen elsewhere:

1. Bulk update from query results You can write a SOQL query, see the results, and instantly edit and bulk update those records—on the same screen. No more query → export → Excel → fix → import. It cuts that whole cycle down to a single interface and saves huge amounts of time.
2. Copy-paste data updates from spreadsheets Sometimes you still end up in a spreadsheet. Jetstream makes that seamless too—you can just copy a range from Google Sheets or Excel and paste it directly into the record loader. Jetstream auto-maps fields by API name or label, and even auto-detects and normalizes date formats. You don’t have to reformat your spreadsheet or mess with CSVs—it just works.
3. Move metadata between orgs without package.xml You can log into any number of orgs, and Jetstream will let you retrieve and deploy metadata across them—even if they’re completely unrelated. Want to grab something from an old dev org and drop it into your sandbox? Done. No CLI. No XML. No hassle.

When I first started using Maven Tools, it quickly became one of my go-to tools that I use literally every single day.

The query editor is fast, reliable, and easy to use — plus, you can save your favorite queries directly in your browser. You can run anonymous Apex, inspect debug logs, and view/edit/delete record data in a clean UI that’s far better than Developer Console.

One of my favorite features is the ability to copy query results to clipboard with a single click. I used to have to download a CSV, import it into Google Sheets, make edits, export a new CSV, and then reimport to Salesforce. These tools have largely replaced Workbench in my personal tech stack, but I still keep it bookmarked—because it’s a classic. For years, it was one of the only ways to do things like:

Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries (DLRS) is one of the most essential free tools in the Salesforce ecosystem. It allows you to configure rollup summary fields on any lookup relationship, not just master-detail—unlocking powerful data aggregation across your org with no code required.

Salesforce’s native rollup summary fields are limited to master-detail relationships, which leaves a major gap in real-world data modeling. DLRS fills that gap completely. I’ve tried every to-do app out there, even ones you haven’t likely heard of, and TickTick is absolutely the best.

It gives you a clean and snappy UI across mobile, desktop, and browser. You can categorize tasks into Lists and Sub-Lists, create custom Filter logic, sync calendar events, sync to the default task manager app on your phone (e.g. iOS Reminders).

What I use it for obsessively is time blocking and planning my day and week. Because your calendar events will sync in to the calendar view, you can then drag and drop your day’s tasks onto your calendar to see both your scheduled events and your time blocked tasks to do in one view. I always know what I need to be doing, and I adjust it constantly. If you know something needs to happen on a day but you don’t know what time yet, no problem—just drag it into the top section of the calendar view so you’ll see it later.

I use TickTick for personal life and professional life alike, so I have everything from birthday gifts to buy to time blocking a project update slide deck all in the same single view.

Deploying Salesforce Profiles and Permission Sets using traditional methods—like change sets or raw XML in Git—is notoriously unreliable. XML is brittle, dependencies are buried, and it’s way too easy to overwrite something important.

That’s where Blue Canvas’s Profiles & Permission Sets Deployer comes in. It’s a free, standalone tool (or part of the Blue Canvas DevOps suite) built specifically to make permission deployments safer, faster, and less frustrating.

Note that Blue Canvas is primarily a paid tool, but this particular subset of features for profile and permission set deployments is a free offering they provide. The rest of their features are behind a paywall.

Why change sets break, and how this app helps

Out of the box, Salesforce doesn’t handle permissions as well as it should. Here’s what can go wrong:

• Profiles are huge: One Profile XML file includes settings for every object, field, app, tab, Apex class, Visualforce page, etc.—even if you’re just changing one permission.
• Change sets are all-or-nothing: You can’t easily trim down a Profile or selectively deploy just one setting—you risk overwriting unrelated permissions.

Ah, the classic Salesforce Inspector now has a worthy challenger: Salesforce Inspector Reloaded. It’s built in the same spirit as the original, but with a more modern UI, multi-tab query windows, and deeper metadata insights. Some users swear by SIR, claiming it’s a straight upgrade—and in many ways, it is.

Reloaded gives you everything you love about the original tool (record inspection, SOQL queries, data import/export) but enhances it with a cleaner experience and extra power-user features. You can run and manage multiple queries at once, explore metadata more intuitively, and generally move faster within your admin or developer workflows.

That said, both tools are excellent. The original Inspector is fast, minimal, and gets the job done. Inspector Reloaded adds polish and power. It really comes down to preference—but if you haven’t given Reloaded a spin yet, it’s worth seeing what the fuss is about

For big monitors or multi-display setups, this is a total game-changer. I use it constantly to keep my workspace organized, especially when juggling multiple apps or browser windows. Simple, free, and makes a huge difference in daily productivity.

Update: Cap has since changed their pricing, and the free version has the same 5 minute maximum as other free solutions, so it’s lost its edge a bit.

I use screen recording constantly to work more efficiently with others. Meetings become videos, long emails become videos, even messy Slack threads can become a quick, clear walkthrough. It’s one of the best ways to save time and avoid back-and-forth.

But most tools have tradeoffs:

• Slack caps video uploads at 5 minutes
• Loom requires a paid plan for longer or higher-quality videos
• Zoom recordings can be clunky and not ideal for quick updates

On macOS, I’ve often used the built-in Command + Shift + 5 recorder, but it has limitations:

• You can’t pause and resume — already a non-starter
• Audio recording is inconsistent, even when the correct mic is selected I’ve often recorded a full video and learned the audio didn’t record

After testing a bunch of options, Cap.so is the best screen recorder I’ve found by a long shot.

This one has become my default tool for async video communication and I haven’t looked back.

Simple & good. This component lets users add contacts or leads to a campaign with just one click—instead of going through multiple steps. It makes it much easier for your team to keep campaign membership accurate and up to date, especially when working from a record page or filtered list.

Why this is helpful:

In standard Salesforce, adding someone to a campaign typically involves:

With Clone This User (CTU), admins can quickly spin up new users by using an existing user as a template. Just select a user whose setup you want to replicate—CTU will copy over their profile, permission sets, permission set groups, and other user-level settings. It works in both Classic and Lightning, and even on Salesforce Mobile.

This is especially useful for onboarding new hires or provisioning contractors who need the same access as someone already on the team. Instead of manually checking off the right settings or cross-referencing permissions, you can simply pick a known-good user and clone their configuration.

It’s a huge time-saver for:

CTU simplifies repetitive tasks in user management. You can still review and adjust any individual settings after cloning, but the heavy lifting is already done. For any admin who’s tired of double-checking permission sets and profiles one by one, this tool is a no-brainer.

📌 This came out before the standard Data Table component in Flow (winter ‘23), which gives it an honorable mention. However, I find that this custom LWC is generally better and more flexible for most use cases, unless you specifically need the map display, in which case this tool offers the simplest way to do it.

In 2025, Salesforce released a simple tile selector component for picklists which probably works for a lot of use cases, but this managed package is still more flexible than the standard component.

This is a fully native, customizable Kanban board that brings drag-and-drop functionality to related lists and home pages in Salesforce. It’s built to be flexible, visual, and usable across objects and use cases.

You could absolutely build something like this yourself with a bit of custom dev effort, but for quick wins and clean UI messaging, this prebuilt option is faster and easier. A useful tool to have in your Salesforce toolbox when you need to guide users or call out important info.

This package gives you simple round robin assignment logic that works with any object in Salesforce. You use it in conjunction with Flow—so you’ll need to build a flow and configure it to call this package when it’s time to assign ownership. It’s lightweight and effective if your needs are basic, like evenly distributing leads, cases, or tasks. If you need more advanced logic (like load balancing, time-based rules, or weighting), this probably won’t cover it—but it’s a solid free solution for straightforward use cases.

Creating junction records manually in Salesforce is often clunky and confusing for end users. This tool solves that problem by giving you a simple, fast UI to create junction records that link two other objects—without having to do it one at a time. You can even create multiple at once, which makes it way more efficient for users managing many-to-many relationships like Contacts to Campaigns, Students to Classes, or any other custom junction use case. For years, admins relied on a tool called Field Trip to analyze field usage and identify data quality issues in their Salesforce org. Field Trip was eventually discontinued—but Cuneiform has stepped in to fill the gap, and in many ways, it does the job better.

Cuneiform is a totally free tool that helps you:

• Analyze field population rates across objects
• Identify unused or underused fields
• Surface potential candidates for cleanup or deprecation
• Understand which fields are actually driving value (vs. just adding clutter)

It works across both standard and custom objects and gives you a clear, interactive UI to explore results. Compared to Field Trip, Cuneiform offers a smoother setup experience and more intuitive reporting.

If you’ve been missing Field Trip—or never had a good solution for field usage reporting—Cuneiform is an excellent replacement that does the job without friction or cost.

This custom Lightning Web Component seriously upgrades the basic Salesforce screen flow lookup experience. Unlike the standard lookup component, which is limited to one object and one record at a time, this one gives you a ton more flexibility.

If you’re on a Mac, HazeOver is a great little tool for improving focus and reducing visual clutter by dimming background windows—keeping your attention on the one you’re actively using.

It adds a slider to the macOS menu bar, letting you adjust the opacity level of background apps. Whether you want a subtle fade or near-full blackout, it’s customizable to your preference.

It’s especially useful when working with lots of open apps or windows, helping you cut down on distractions without forcing you into full-screen mode.

Need to temporarily turn it off—say, if you’re comparing data between Excel and Chrome? You can easily disable it with a click or a keyboard shortcut, then re-enable it just as fast.

Clean, lightweight, and surprisingly effective at helping you stay in flow.

This package from Salesforce Labs lets you launch a flow from within another flow, with added control over how the child flow is presented—offering both functional flexibility and a better user experience.

You can invoke screen flows or autolaunched flows as part of the parent flow’s logic. For screen flows, you have two options:

• Embed the child flow directly inside a screen of the parent flow
• Launch it in a modal, letting users complete the child flow and return to where they left off

This flexibility opens the door for modular, reusable flow designs—breaking complex processes into manageable, focused parts without sacrificing usability.

It’s particularly helpful for:

• Reusing common flows like file uploads, record lookups, or checklists across multiple parent flows
• Keeping long flows clean and segmented while maintaining continuity for the user
• Creating context-specific workflows that pop up only when needed

Whether you’re trying to clean up a bulky screen flow or improve user guidance by isolating tasks, this is a smart architectural tool for anyone building polished flow experiences.

Excalidraw is a fast, browser-based drawing tool built for clarity, speed, and real-time collaboration. It’s perfect for whiteboarding sessions where you need to sketch out ideas on the fly—especially when discussing abstract concepts like forecasting, data models, or system architecture.

Getting people on the same page starts with understanding, and that’s hard to do with just words. Excalidraw gives you a lightweight way to visually anchor the conversation—whether you’re brainstorming, explaining, or mapping things out mid-call. It’s not trying to be Lucidchart (which is great for polished diagrams); it’s a digital napkin for visual thinking in the moment.

One cool trick I use all the time: I keep an iPad at my workstation and use an iOS Shortcut that opens Excalidraw in Safari with one tap. From there, I start a Live Collaboration session, which copies the shareable link to my universal clipboard (shared across devices via iCloud). I can then paste that link into my laptop browser, share my screen on a Zoom/Meet call, and draw directly on the iPad using a $10 stylus from Amazon—no need for the official Apple Pencil. My drawings appear in real time on the shared screen for everyone in the meeting. It feels like magic, and it’s a super smooth way to enhance remote collaboration.

If you’re someone who talks through complex problems often, Excalidraw is one of those tools that earns its spot in your everyday kit. Also worth noting—it’s open source and self-hostable, but the free web version is more than enough for 99% of use cases.

A note on tldraw

There is another app similar to Excalidraw called tldraw. I really like a few things about tldraw, such as the fact that you can save sessions, name them, and keep them in a handy left-side drawer even without a paid license.

However, when I tried it on 7/2025, it had a couple of issues that make me not be able to completely recommend it: (1) on iPad, the page didn’t render correctly and the zoom in/out options were cut off; (2) the “Share” button and menu were clunky and didn’t always work; (3) clicking the “Copy link” button didn’t work for me.

These are problems for me because of how I use Excalidraw, and how I would want to use tldraw, which I explained above on this page. If I can’t quickly and easily share a session to draw live on Zoom with colleagues, then it has no purpose for me.

I’ll revisit this one later and see if they’ve cleaned up some of the bugginess, then I could see this being a strong contender to replace Excalidraw as my daily driver drawing tool.

Flow Input Validator is a free Flow screen component that fills a key gap in Salesforce automation: validation for components that don’t support it out of the box, such as picklists, toggles, email/URL fields, and even datatables.

While many screen components allow you to configure “validate input” using formulas, several important ones remain unsupported. Without this tool, you typically need messy workarounds—like adding extra decision logic or manual validation displays—to prevent users from entering incorrect data.

Here’s how it works:

• Place the component on your screen and connect it to a boolean formula that represents whether input is valid

If your Flows use advanced input components and you want cleaner validation UX—without adding extra screens or decisions—this component is an elegant and effective solution.

This free AppExchange component lets you launch a Salesforce Flow in a modal window from a Lightning record page, using a Lightning App Builder custom component.

Why is that useful?

Well, by default, you can launch a flow from a quick action or from a button, but doing it in a modal—without navigating away from the record page—creates a much smoother user experience. You don’t lose page context, and it feels more like a true in-app interaction.

Great for:

• Creating or editing related records inline
• Running quick guided workflows (like assigning a task, logging a note, or requesting approval)
• Collecting additional info without leaving the current page

It’s also helpful when you want to trigger a flow only under certain conditions, using visibility rules and component filters in the Lightning App Builder. Simple, free, and highly practical.

Salesforce Screen Flows are great for guiding users through a process—but they’ve always had one major limitation: you can’t launch them automatically when a record changes.

This free component from UnofficialSF, called Detect and Launch, solves exactly that problem.

It lets you automatically trigger a Screen Flow when a user opens a record page, based on changes in the record data. Think of it as an “on load” trigger—but smart. You set the criteria (using formulas or Flow expressions), and if the condition is met, the Screen Flow launches instantly without the user needing to click a thing.

This opens up a ton of possibilities for automating and personalizing the Salesforce experience—without Apex or heavy customization.

Example use cases:

• Automatically launch a handoff flow when a new Opportunity Owner opens the record for the first time
• Kick off a quality assurance checklist if a Case is reopened
• Guide users through additional steps when a record enters a specific status (e.g. “Contract Sent”)
• Prompt users to confirm key fields when an Account becomes high-risk or hits a key lifecycle stage

The Toggle Field Button is a sleek little Lightning Web Component you can drop directly onto a Lightning Record Page using the Lightning App Builder. It turns a standard checkbox field into a clean, clickable toggle switch—no page reload required.

You tell it which checkbox field to control, and it updates the record in real time when clicked. You can also customize the toggle’s label, the text shown when it’s on or off, icons, and even the button width. It’s a great way to give users a clear, interactive way to enable or disable a flag or setting without needing to open edit mode.

Perfect for things like feature flags, user preferences, or any binary status field you want to make more visually intuitive. Not for use in Flows—this is all about improving the native record page experience.

This reusable Aura component brings tabbed navigation to Salesforce Screen Flows, allowing users to view and edit related but distinct records or content sections within a single screen.

What it does: You pass it a list of component definitions (tab label, component name, attributes, etc.), and it renders a tab set where each tab dynamically loads the specified component. Common use cases include showing tabs for parent record details, related contacts, opportunities, or any nested components you define.

Why it matters: Instead of piling everything into one long screen or splitting into multiple screens, you can organize related content into logical sections—making the Flow more user-friendly and scalable. It’s particularly helpful when you want users to revisit multiple record types (like Accounts and their related Contacts or Opportunities) without leaving the Flow context.

How it works: You build a text array in the Flow containing comma-delimited tab definitions (name, component type, attribute values), pass it into the FlowTabSetCmp component on the screen, and it takes care of dynamically rendering each tab using lightning:tabset and $A.createComponent.

Limitations: The more tabs you load, the slower the screen may become, especially if each contains recordEdit components or nested data. Also, this is Aura-based and only works in Screen Flows.

Bottom line: If you’re looking to organize complex Flow screens into modular, interactive sections that feel more like an app UX, this tabbed component offers a neat and declarative solution

Salesforce Screen Flows are powerful—but they can also be frustrating when it comes to navigation. Sometimes you just want a simple button to let users go back, cancel, or jump to a different screen. Out of the box? Not happening.

This free, lightweight component gives you full control over what happens when users click a button in a Screen Flow—without needing a bunch of extra logic or Apex hacks.

This component bridges a major gap in Flow: the ability to work with structured, tabular input from users. While standard Flow screens are great for single-record input, they fall short for bulk entry.

Salesforce doesn’t natively let you create or update Custom Metadata records using Flow—but this free add-on from UnofficialSF makes it possible.

🧪 Experimental idea: using CMT with this package in place of Apex-defined data types

Here’s a concept I haven’t tested yet, but looks promising:

You could potentially use this package in combination with a Custom Metadata Type that represents a flexible, schema-free data structure, then populate it dynamically in Flow.

This could act as a workaround for Flows that need to work with structured data that doesn’t map neatly onto a single SObject. Typically, you’d need an Apex-defined data type for that. But with this method, you might build a reusable metadata-based data table or pseudo-object instead. This would present a declarative option for more abstract data manipulations than what currently exists with Salesforce out of the box.

Again, this is theoretical and would need validation. But if it works, it could open up some powerful, declarative architecture patterns for working with dynamic or loosely structured data in Flow.

This component lets you build a Flow where users can navigate directly to any screen by clicking in the Flow navigation bar—no page reloads, no separate Flow launches, and no need to complete earlier steps first.

🔄 What It Does:

• When a user clicks on a step in the Flow navigation bar (e.g. Step 3), it:
  • Triggers the “Next” action behind the scenes
  • Simultaneously sets a Flow variable indicating which screen the user wants to go to next
• A Decision element immediately reads that variable and routes the user to the selected screen

This approach allows users to jump forward or backward to any screen within a multi-screen Flow instantly, while staying on the same Flow interview.

🧠 Why It’s Useful:

• Gives users flexibility to move non-linearly through a Flow
• Great for review/edit flows, onboarding checklists, or any multi-step process where users don’t always go in order
• Avoids clunky workarounds like multiple separate Flows or reloading the page with different parameters

🛠️ How It’s Built:

• Use a custom Navigation Bar component that sets a Flow variable when a tab is clicked
• Use a Decision element after each screen that checks for a navigation override
• Route to the selected screen’s subflow or screen element accordingly

This pattern creates a seamless, app-like experience inside Flow—giving users the power to control their journey while keeping the automation clean and centralized.

Out of the box, Salesforce Flows now include a basic Progress Indicator component (released in Winter ‘24), which allows you to show a simple bar at the top or bottom of your flow screens. It supports two styles: Bar and Path, and gives users a visual cue of where they are in a multi-step flow.

However, it’s limited in several key ways:

• Only two styles available (Bar and Path)
• Must be manually configured per screen
• Limited customization (e.g., no vertical layout, no rings or percentage display)
• Harder to fully align with complex UX requirements

That’s where the Dynamic Flow Progress component really shines.

This is a totally free QR code generator that’s super simple to use.

What this one does that the other one in my toolbox cannot do is have a QR code that pre-fills an email or a text message with a message, connects to a WiFi network, dials a phone call, or sets up a Bitcoin payment.

I don’t know when you would use that last one, but I could see email, text, and phone being valuable for marketing teams

I have spent years of my life using Command+Shift+4 to grab screenshots and annotate them using the standard image annotations feature on my Mac. I don’t know how it took me this long to find this tool. There are random scenarios where I really need to copy text that I see on screen - whether that be someone sharing their screen and I want to quickly capture text they’re showing, or Salesforce picklist values I want to capture as text without manually typing each value or copying it into a spreadsheet to edit. These scenarios sneak up on you and can take an unnecessary 5 or 10 minutes out of your day. This adds up over time.

Once I started using this clipboard manager tool, I realized what I had been missing all along. Only having 1 “slot” to store clipboard memory feels absolutely archaic.

This is a simple component - you can create a button that when clicked, simply updates a field on the record to a determined value.

There was a little while where I thought up a workflow to record system and input audio on my computer, run it through Whisper, store the transcript locally, to trigger n8n to ping ChatGPT to summarize the contents, and save it to a Google Doc. Basically, my own free, personalized version of an Otter or Granola type tool.

If you think that sounds cool, well STOP! You don’t have to do that anymore thanks to Meetily.

Meetily is a totally local, privacy first meeting recorder. It does basically the same thing I described, except it’s all in 1 application stored locally on your machine. You have some options for real-time transcription and for AI summarization, but there are local LLM options for those.

The default uses Parakeet for real-time transcription and Ollama gemma 3:1b for summarization, and honestly these work well enough that hitting the OpenAI API is not worth the cost.

For my purposes, I just use this for personal meeting notes. Be aware that legally speaking, you’re supposed to tell people when they’re being recorded, so best not to abuse that, but for your own personal meeting notes, meeting follow-ups, and keeping an external memory bank it’s excellent.

An excellent free tool for building and designing relational databases. Great for an architect designing a new data model, including tables, fields, and relationships. You can also add “Areas” and Notes for meta commenting and information for a reader. Can be exported in different formats.

Is fantastic for documenting and making sense of an existing data model, or for designing a new data model you’ll be spinning up.

When I’m starting a new complex data architecture project, I usually sketch ideas out in Lucidchart or a drawing tool such as Excalidraw or tldraw, then when I’m ready, I formalize the ERD in DrawDB.

Sometimes you just need a quick, free way to knock the background out of an image. Remove.bg does it automatically in a couple seconds—drop in a photo and you get a clean transparent PNG back.

Insomnia is a clean, open-source API client for designing, testing, and mocking APIs—a solid alternative to Postman without the bloat. It’s a desktop app (Mac, Windows, Linux) that handles REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and WebSockets.

Kong caught some heat in v8 for pushing cloud accounts, but you can now keep everything fully local or sync through your own Git repo if you’d rather skip the cloud.
